Pirates pitcher Caleb Ferguson throws against the Tigers in the eighth inning during the second game of a doubleheader Thursday.

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ series finale at Comerica Park vs. the Detroit Tigers, Game 2 of a doubleheader Thursday, was put on hold with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning due to rain.

At the time of the rain delay, the score was tied 4-4 with Dennis Santana pitching and Detroit’s Jake Rogers batting.

Another rain delay of approximately 40 minutes preceded Game 1 on Thursday afternoon, with the evening game a makeup of Wednesday evening, which was canceled because of inclement weather.

Detroit won Game 1 of the split doubleheader, 9-2.

Paul Skekes started in Game 2 and was in line for a no decision, having allowed two runs on three hits over six innings, walking five with nine strikeouts.

Andrew McCutchen, Nick Gonzales and Jared Triolo homered for the Pirates in Game 2 leading into the delay.
