3 former WPIAL standouts sign with Pittsburgh Riveters
Less than two months out from the start of their inaugural season, the Pittsburgh Riveters added three more players, including two with Westmoreland County roots, to bring the pre-professional team’s roster to 21.
Pittsburgh will play in the USL W League with its opener set for May 16 against the Cleveland Force at Highmark Stadium at Station Square.
Midfielder Ella Bulava, a Latrobe alum who plays at Maryland, and defender Reagan Casper (Norwin/Maryland Baltimore County) will join the team.
The Riveters also signed defender Eliana Davin, a Montour alum who plays at George Mason.
All three women trained with the Riverhounds Development Academy. They were teammates on the RDA team that reached the ECNL North American Cup semifinals in 2021.
Bulava, 19, a former all-state player who rallied from a torn ACL that took her senior season away at Latrobe, redshirted this past season at Maryland. She will have four years of eligibility remaining.
“Ella will bring us a wealth of versatility positionally and a work rate of the highest standard,” Riveters coach Scott Gibson said in a news release. “She is excellent technically and will bring pace, power and competitiveness to the team. We are happy to welcome Ella back to the club, and her character and leadership are exactly what we want in the locker room.”
Casper, 20, played in 25 games last season at UMBC, starting six. She is a former All-WPIAL player.
“Reagan is a very strong left-sided defender and will add tremendous depth to our defensive side of the ball,” Gibson said. “She is very strong in 1v1 duels, excellent in the tackle and comfortable with the ball at her feet. Reagan is someone that you want to go into battle with on the field, and those qualities are valuable to our group of players”

Davin, 20, played in 15 games for George Mason two years ago before redshirting in 2024.
“Eliana can play as an outside back or wing back and likes to get forward to trigger attacks,” Gibson said. “She is very smart, technically excellent on the ball and will provide us with quality crosses from the left side of the field. She has a great character and mentality that will be great for the locker room.”
