Three takeaways from the Penguins’ 3-0 win at Winnipeg on Saturday night:

Potent PK

During their road win against the Jets at Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, the Penguins’ penalty kill was 2 for 2.

Overall this season, their penalty kill has struggled. Entering Saturday, they were ranked 22nd in the 32-team NHL with a conversion rate of 77.2%

But they have pieced together three perfect games with their penalty kill going 6 for 6 over that span.

“We’re finally figuring the system out,” Penguins forward Josh Archibald, a member of the penalty kill, said to media in Winnipeg on Friday. “We’re coming together as a team. The big thing is that we’ve got some confidence now.”

Empty promises

Penguins forward Jake Guentzel scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season at 19:56 of the third period on an empty net.

Guentzel leads the NHL with four empty net goals. As a team, the Penguins are tied for fourth in the NHL with five empty net goals.

Game-winning form

Penguins forward Jason Zucker scored the opening and winning goal 53 seconds into the third period.

That marked his first game-winning goal since a 7-3 road win against the Philadelphia Flyers on May 4, 2021.

Since joining the Penguins via trade Feb. 10, 2020, Zucker has four game-winning goals.

Follow the Penguins all season long.
