3-time champion David Bradshaw takes 2-shot lead at Frank B. Fuhrer Invitational

Three-time champion David Bradshaw shot a 5-under-par 135 to take a two-shot lead after Day 1 of the Frank B. Fuhrer Invitational.

Bradshaw shot a 3-under 67 in Round 1 and a 2-under 68 in Round 2 on Monday at the Pittsburgh Field Club.

Four golfers were tied for second at 3-under 137 — PGA pro Steven Wheatcroft of Washington, Matt Schall, Ryan Sullivan and amateur Jack Katarincic, a member at the Field Club.

Returning champion David McCarthy is tied for eighth at even par.

Pittsburgh’s Michael Van Sickle and Murrysville amateur Palmer Jackson are tied for 15th at 3-over, while Irwin native Dan Obremski is 4-over.

First-round leader Eric Cole shot a 2-under 68 and is sixth at 2-under for the tournament. His second round included an eagle 3 on No. 11.

Other local golfers include Oakmont’s Spencer Melllon at even, Jimmy Myerers at 7-over, Greensburg’s Mark Goetz at 9-over, Irwin’s Justin Moose at 10-over, and Bob Friend at 17-over.

Fromer Chicago Blackhawk’s player Jeremy Roenick is 10-over.

The third round of the 72-hole tournament will be Tuesday and the final round is Wednesday.
