4 more players added to Steelers’ injury report; Nick Herbig, James Pierre remain out
Starters Zach Frazier and Keeanu Benton were among four players added to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ injury report Thursday, and none of the previously injured players was given any upgraded statuses.
Center Frazier (triceps) and safety Jabrill Peppers (illness) did not practice at all Thursday after previously not being mentioned as dealing with ailments. Long snapper Christian Kuntz and Benton, a defensive tackle, were listed as limited participants because of respective knee and ankle injuries.
None of the eight players who carried over from Wednesday’s injury report had a change in status. That included outside linebackers Nick Herbig and T.J. Watt, neither of whom practiced. Watt is eight days removed from suffering a partially collapsed lung, and Herbig suffered a hamstring injury during Monday’s win against the Miami Dolphins.
Though he was not spotted on the field at practice during the period open to media photography and video, Watt was at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex on Thursday according to a photo posted by the Steelers on social media.
Also still absent from practice was starting left guard Isaac Semalo (triceps) and fill-in starting outside cornerback James Pierre (calf), whereas fill-in starting left tackle Andrus Peat remained limited as he progresses through NFL concussion protocol. Peat missed Monday’s game.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers (full participant, left wrist), special-teams ace Ben Skowronek (limited, hand/illness) and defensive tackle Derrick Harmon (full, knee) are status quo and expected to play in Sunday’s game at the Detroit Lions.
