8 Latrobe players named to District 31 American Legion first team

District 31 American Legion regular season and playoff champion Latrobe had eight players named to the league’s All-Star team announced Friday.

Bushy Run and Yough had two players each, while Unity and Young Township one each.

The Jethawks named were pitchers Rayce King and Peyton Henry; catcher Logan Short; infielders Lou Amatucci, Vinny Amatucci and Logan Bradish; and outfielders Erick Batista and Haden Sierocky.

Yough’s Vinny Martin was named a first-team outfielder and pitcher, while Allen Novacek was named a pitcher.

Bushy Run’s selections were pitcher Matt Lichota and infielder Peyton Bigler, while Young Township’s Dustin Coleman was named as a pitcher and Unity’s Chase Sickenberger as a pitcher.

Martin and Vinny Amatucci are three-time all-district players, Short was a two-time winner while Murrysville’s Jeffrey Downs was a former all-district and honorable mention winner.

Second-team selections included Latrobe pitcher Jake Albaugh; Young Township pitcher Haden Brink, catcher Braden Staats and infielder Coleman; Hempfield East pitcher Zach David; Unity pitcher Alexander Woodring and infielder Tony Masarri; Murrysville infielder Jeffrey Downs; and Bushy Run infielder Gavin Good, outfielder Matt Lichota, outfielder Owen Rain and outfielder Jason Sabol.

Players named to the honorable mention list were Bushy Run’s Ian Temple; Hempfield East’s Shane Evans, Jake Smith and Grayson Willis; Homer City’s Michael Krejocic and Owen Saiani; Mt. Pleasant’s Aaron Alakson, Jeremy Kitz and Regis Sofranko; Murrysville’s Cole Brinker and Jordan Suvak; Unity’s Matt Macey and Owen Miele; Yough’s Zander Aird; and Young Township’s Nick Reeping and Mason Ross.

Latrobe finished 19-1-1, followed by Bushy Run (16-4-1), Young Township (15-6), Unity (9-10-2), Yough (7-11), Hempfield East (5-12-1), Murrysville (5-13), Mt. Pleasant (4-13-1) and Homer City (3-13).
