Krystyna Burdelski’s strong week earned conference recognition.

The Westminster freshman, a Fox Chapel graduate, was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday after leading the Titans to two wins last week.

Burdelski pitched a one-hit shutout, her second of the season, in a 9-0 win over Bethany. For the week, she had a 2-0 record and 1.16 ERA, improving to 7-8 with a 3.01 ERA on the season.

Gannon: Junior Maria Taliani (Deer Lakes) delivered a two-run, two-out walkoff double for the Golden Knights, giving them a 4-3 win over Cal (Pa.) in the first game of a doubleheader Monday. Taliani had two hits and two RBIs in the win. Taliani and junior Rachel Tanilli (Deer Lakes) also came up big in a doubleheader sweep over Seton Hill on Wednesday. Tanilli’s RBI double scored Taliani in the first game, a 3-1 Gannon victory. In the second game, Tanilli hit her career-high seventh home run of the season and drove in four runs, and Taliani had a team-high three hits in a 7-0 win.

Pitt-Johnstown: Sophomore Kristie Radvan (Freeport) had four hits and three RBIs in a doubleheader sweep Wednesday over Clarion. In the first game, Radvan singled twice and drove in a run to help the Mountain Cats win 6-0. She added a pair of RBI singles in the second game, a 9-5 win.

Baseball

Seton Hill: Redshirt senior Nick Stotler (Plum) hit a solo home run, his sixth of the season, in a 3-2 loss to Cal (Pa.) in the first game of a doubleheader Monday.

Men’s tennis

Saint Vincent: Freshman Josh Boland (Plum) was named Presidents’ Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after a perfect performance last week. Boland went 4-0 at singles and doubles as the Bearcats beat Bethany and Waynesburg. He secured a pair of straight-sets wins at No. 6 singles and two solid victories at No. 3 doubles with partner Alex DeLuca.

Women’s tennis

Slippery Rock: Junior Lacey Cohen (Fox Chapel) helped The Rock clinch the top seed in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference conference by getting a pair of wins in a 5-2 victory over IUP. First, Cohen and Olivia Warner secured a 6-2 victory at second doubles, clinching the doubles point for Slippery Rock. Cohen then beat Katya Minchenkova in a three-set thriller at No. 1 singles, a rematch of the PSAC singles championship.

Track and field

Ashland: Redshirt freshman Elizabeth Weimer (Burrell) won the women’s shot put at the Walsh Invitational earlier this month, registering a distance of 45 feet, 7 inches.

Pitt: Sophomore Nikki Scherer (Burrell) ran another strong race at the Virginia Challenge, placing fifth in the 200-meter dash in 24.08 seconds.

Washington & Jefferson: Freshman Faith Remich (Burrell) finished third in the 800 at Baldwin Wallace’s Sparky Adams Invitational. Remich’s time of 2 minutes, 27.69 seconds established a personal record and moved her into the top five all-time at W&J.
