The Robert Morris softball team was 22-14 overall and 17-11 in Horizon League play heading into a conference doubleheader Saturday against Youngstown State.

Senior center fielder Alaina York (Burrell) has been a key component.

Starting all 36 games through Friday, York is batting .300 with 12 RBIs, five doubles and a triple. She hit .384 (10 of 26) in 10-game stretch through a tough 5-4 loss to IUPUI on April 17.

York, who bats leadoff, collected a single and was hit by a pitch in the Colonials’ 6-5 come-from-behind walk-off win over YSU in eight innings Friday.

Letizia Collini (Kiski Area)

The Clarion graduate student and distance runner has enjoyed a strong spring season. At the Slippery Rock University Invitational on Thursday, Collini placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 26.19 seconds.

She also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at Slippery Rock’s Bill Lennox Invitational on April 16.

Karsten Lagerquist (Fox Chapel)

The Grove City men’s tennis team finished Presidents’ Athletic Conference play with a 6-0 record, and Lagerquist, a junior, played No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles. Lagerquist is 6-2 in singles and 6-1 in doubles for Grove City, the No. 1 seed for next week’s PAC Tournament.

He recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles and teamed with Ryne Talko to score an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles in the Wolverines’ 9-0 win over Washington & Jefferson on April 22.

Kaylee Sciubba (Deer Lakes)

The Westminster sophomore middle blocker earned first-team all-conference honors after helping the Titans win their fifth PAC volleyball title April 15 and finish 10-1 overall and 8-0 in league play. She led the PAC with a .368 hitting percentage, and her 35 blocks ranked second on the team and tied for fourth in the conference.Sciubba averaged one block per set, good for second in the PAC.

She totaled 84 kills for the season to rank third on the team.

Lauren Lampus (Freeport), Courtney Grubbs (Freeport)

The former Yellowjackets volleyball teammates picked up PAC honorable-mention honors. Lampus was recognized for her outside-hitting talents for PAC champion Westminster. She scored 80 points (2.50 per set) and delivered 67 kills (2.09 per set) in 11 matches. Grubbs, a junior setter at Thiel, led the team with 182 assists and ranked third on the team in aces (9) and fourth in digs (61).

Justin DeCheck (Plum)

The Gannon sophomore swimmer earned six podium finishes and several personal-best times this week at the PSAC championships. He picked up a pair of All-PSAC honors with a third in the 100-yard backstroke (50.78 seconds) and a second as part of the 400 free relay (3:04.88). He also took fourth in the 200 back and 800 free relay and fifth in the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Joey DeCheck (Plum)

The Gannon freshman swimmer made his PSAC championships debut and helped the Knights’ 200 free relay place second and earn all-conference honors with a time of 1:25.72. He also earned All-PSAC honors with brother Justin on the second-place 400 free relay.

Jake McCaskey (Deer Lakes)

The junior infield/pitcher at Cal (Pa.) continues to lead the Vulcans in hitting with a .364 average (36 for 99) through 28 games. He has a team-best eight doubles, two triples, six home runs, 40 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

He has been held without a hit in only six times and has nine multihit games. He went 6 for 11 with a home run and six RBIs over the final three games of a series with Pitt-Johnstown that ended April 17. Cal was 19-9 overall and 10-6 in PSAC play heading into Saturday’s doubleheader against PSAC foe Clarion.

Evan Sante (Plum)

Through 24 games with Washington & Jefferson baseball (23-1, 17-1 PAC), the sophomore outfielder batted .302 (19 of 63) with five doubles, three home runs and 16 RBIs.

He went 2 for 3 with a three-run home run and two runs scored in a 7-0 win over Chatham on April 17.

Lacey Cohen (Fox Chapel)

The Slippery Rock senior recorded the 129th victory of her collegiate tennis career with a 6-0 doubles triumph in The Rock’s 5-2 win over Bluefield State (W.Va). on April 18.

One day earlier, Cohen, playing at No. 3 singles, posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory to help Slippery Rock top Seton Hill, 6-1. She is 4-4 in singles matches this season. The Rock, who finished the regular season 8-5 overall and 5-1 in PSAC play, opened the PSAC Tournament Saturday against Mercyhurst.

Tyler Hettich (Freeport)

The Allegheny senior first baseman batted .343 (12 for 35) in 14 games through Thursday’s doubleheader sweep of Kenyon College.

He has three doubles and six RBIs for the Gators, who were 11-4 overall and 6-4 in the North Coast Athletic Conference before Saturday’s doubleheader with Ohio Wesleyan.

Faith Remich (Burrell)

The junior middle distance runner at Washington & Jefferson finished fifth in the 800 run with a season-best time of 2:27.18 at the Grove City Invitational on April 17. She also was second overall in the 1,500 run (5:12.79) at the Geneva College Golden Tornado Classic on April 3 and third in the event (5:13.06) at the Thiel Invitational on April 10.
