Aaron Donald never played for Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi, but they are part of the same team of donors to the football program.

On Pitt’s sixth annual Day of Giving, Donald donated $200,000 to the Pitt Football Championship Fund. Narduzzi and his family gave an unspecified amount. Both men have made previous donations to Pitt football.

Donald, who was one of the nation’s top defensive players while at Pitt in 2013, donated $1 million in 2019. The ground floor of Pitt’s Duratz Atheltic Complex practice facility was renamed in his honor — the Aaron Donald Football Performance Center.

Donald, now 30, is the youngest seven-figure donor in the history of the university. His $1 million gift also is the largest donation by a Pitt football letterman.

Donald was a first-round draft choice of the Los Angeles Rams in 2014. Earlier this month, he led the Rams to victory in Super Bowl LVI.

Narduzzi and his family made a six-figure donation last year. Entering his eighth season, he is tied with Walt Harris as the longest-tenured Pitt head coaches in the past 57 years. Pitt will begin work toward defense of its ACC championship Monday on the first day of spring drills.
