Aaron Rodgers gets chance to defeat 32nd NFL team when Steelers face Packers

Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers throws against the Bengals Thursday Oct.16, 2025 at Paycor Stadium.

Aaron Rodgers has beaten 31 of the NFL’s 32 teams, the exception being the team with which he spent the first 18 seasons of his decorated career.

Rodgers will get a chance to join an elite fraternity if he’s able to help the Pittsburgh Steelers defeat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night at Acrisure Stadium.

The only players to defeat all 32 teams are Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Brett Favre and Peyton Manning.

Reaching that list was dependent, of course, on Rodgers changing teams at some point of his career. He spent the past two years with the New York Jets but the Packers were never on the schedule in either season.

Rodgers helped the Steelers defeat the Jets in the season opener. Now, he gets a chance to vanquish his second former employer.

Coach Mike Tomlin doesn’t think the matchup means any more — or less — to Rodgers.

“Aaron has been at it a long time,” Tomlin said Tuesday at his weekly news conference. “He’s got an awesome relationship with this game. I haven’t been with him a long time, but he’s been fired up every single week. I’d imagine this is going to be the same. I imagine some external things (the media) are going to make more out of it than it will for him. He’s playing and playing to win. That’s what he does. That’s my perspective on it.”

Tomlin has come to appreciate Rodgers’ work ethic, and he cites it as a reason the 41-year-old quarterback is playing a 21st season in the league.

“You don’t stumble into 20-plus years of service in this business,” he said. “He’s got some unique habits, a unique relationship with work and the game of football. I anticipated that, but it still doesn’t make it any less impressive. His day to day, what he’s willing to do.”

Tomlin noted that Rodgers had spent Tuesday at the team’s practice facility even though it was a scheduled day off for players.

“He loves it. It’s who he is,” Tomlin said. “He loves the process, he loves to talk ball, he loves to educate his teammates, to get on the same page. He doesn’t tire when it comes to seeking resolution to issues. There are a lot of good things about him other than his physical talents and skills that have been really impressive. Not that I’m shocked by it, but it’s still highly appreciated.”
