Alex Dixon had a hand in creating all three goals as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds picked up their second straight road win with a 3-2 victory over Loudoun United on Wednesday night in Virginia.

The Riverhounds took a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when a Dixon cross from the left side skipped past Russell Cicerone to Anthony Velarde for a one-touch finish from near the penalty spot.

Dixon set up another goal in the 41st minute, giving Pittsburgh a 2-0 halftime lead. His cross from the right side pinballed off Kenardo Forbes and Loudoun defender Wahab Ackwei and into the net. It was scored as an own goal.

After Jovanny Bolivar scored to make it 2-1, Dixon was at it again. In the 57th minute, he was hauled down by Loudoun defender Micael DeShields on a run into the box, drawing a penalty. Cicerone converted for his third goal of the season to make it 3-1.

Loudoun’s Logan Panchot again made it a one-goal game in the 70th minute, but the Riverhounds held on to improve to 2-2-1. Loudoun fell to 1-3-0.

The Riverhounds will return home to host Western Conference foe Austin Bold at 6 p.m. Sunday.
