The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference delayed the inevitable a couple of weeks ago when it said it would go forward with fall sports.

On Monday, the league walked back that plan.

Fall and winter teams are affected by its latest decision.

After three of its member schools — Pitt-Greensburg, Hilbert and Pitt-Bradford — opted not to participate in fall athletics, the AMCC voted to postpone conference competition in men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, and men’s and women’s basketball to the spring.

The AMCC will move ahead with men’s golf and women’s tennis in the fall given there are a minimum of four teams competing.

Men’s tennis also can be played in the fall, but its championship will remain in April.

The conference’s bowling round-robin scheduled for November could be rescheduled for a later date.

Additionally, the swimming and diving championships, set for February, could be moved.

Schools can conduct a “non-traditional season” for spring sports during the fall in baseball, softball and men’s volleyball — based on school discretion.
