Pirates designated hitter Andrew McCutchen hits a 3-run homer to surpass Roberto Clemente on the Pirates all-time home run list during the fifth inning against the Marlins on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at PNC Park.

Andrew McCutchen raised his right arm toward the sky as he circled the bases Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park, celebrating his three-run home run against the Miami Marlins.

This one was special enough to require a curtain call.

McCutchen hit his 241st home run with the Pittsburgh Pirates, moving past Hall of Fame right fielder and franchise icon Roberto Clemente for third place in franchise history. McCutchen now trails only Ralph Kiner (301) and Willie Stargell (475) among Pirates home runs leaders.

The 325th homer of McCutchen’s 17-year major league career came after Ke’Bryan Hayes hit a leadoff single and Oneil Cruz drew a full-count walk, as he hit a 405-foot shot on a 1-1 splitter by Marlins right-hander Cal Quantrill to give the Pirates a 4-0 lead with one out in the fifth inning.

McCutchen, 38, ranks in the top 10 in Pirates history with 846 walks (fifth), 626 extra-base hits (sixth), 843 RBIs (sixth), 1,721 hits (ninth), 6,075 at-bats (ninth), 1,638 games (ninth) 186 stolen bases (10th) and 956 runs (10th).
