James Conner out for Steelers vs. Rams; Trey Edmunds, Tyson Alualu will play

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Trey Edmunds tries to break away from Indianapolis Colts linebacker Bobby Okereke during the second half of last week’s game. Edmunds will again serve as the No. 2 running back for the Steelers on Sunday.

As expected, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be without three members of their backfield for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Starting running back James Conner (shoulder), backup Benny Snell (knee) and fullback Roosevelt Nix (knee) were all ruled out on the team’s official injury report released Friday.

Snell has been known to be out for multiple weeks following knee surgery; he and Conner each missed last week’s win against the Indianapolis Colts after suffering their injuries in a win against the Miami Dolphins the week prior. Nix returned to action for the Dolphins game after missing five games because of knee surgery, but he left the Colts game early because of an apparent aggravation.

The Steelers avoided further damage to their running back depth chart when Trey Edmunds practiced fully on Friday. He will play Sunday despite missing practices Wednesday and Thursday because of a rib injury.

Now-starting defensive lineman Tyson Alualu also practiced Friday and will play Sunday after he had sat out Thursday’s practice because of a knee injury.
