Chicago Bears cornerback Josh Blackwell (No. 39) and defensive tackle Gervon Dexter Sr. (No. 99) celebrate after Blackwell blocked a field goal by Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson during a September game. The Bears will be without all three starting linebackers for Sunday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Whoever starts at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday has caught a break in regards to the defense he faces.

The Chicago Bears ruled out all three of their starting linebackers for Sunday’s home game against the Steelers at Soldier Field. Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards and Noah Sewell did not practice this past week.

Edmunds, who will miss a game for the first time this season, suffered a groin injury during this past Sunday’s win against the Minnesota Vikings. Sewell suffered an elbow ailment in Minnesota and will miss a game for the second time this season. Edwards has injuries to his hand and hamstring.

Backup linebackers on the roster include D’Marco Jackson, Ruben Hyppolite II, Amen Ogbongbemiga and practice-squader Jalen Reeves-Maybin. That quartet has combined for 17 games (nine by Jackson) and 50 defensive snaps played this season.

The most recent start any has made came by Reeves-Maybin in 2021 while he was with the Detroit Lions. He was signed by the Bears this week.

Chicago ranks 27th in the NFL in total defense and 25th against the run.

Steelers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers (wrist) is questionable to play Sunday.
