Veteran journalist Bill Hartlep has been named sports editor for Trib Total Media.
Hartlep will oversee all sports coverage for the company’s print and digital operations and work with the staff of the High School Sports Network to continue providing the most comprehensive coverage of scholastic sports in the region.
“Bill is a true professional with an unfailing passion for his work,” Trib Total Media President and Chief Executive Officer Jennifer Bertetto said. “He loves sports, but more importantly, he loves great journalism, and that devotion will benefit our readers in so many ways.”
Hartlep began his career as a community news reporter with Trib Total Media’s weekly newspapers, eventually becoming assistant sports editor for the Tribune-Review’s print and digital publications in 2010. Since then, he has played a crucial role in sustaining the company’s print presence while building a successful and rapidly expanding digital operation.
“Bill listens to our readers. He wants to provide them with the best coverage possible of pro, college, high school and youth league sports. He cares deeply about his work, and it shows in the products that he and our sports staff produce every day,” said Trib Total Media Executive Editor Sue McFarland.
Hartlep, 38, graduated with honors in 2003 from Point Park and lives in South Park with his wife, Jen, and their two children.
