Bucs RB Bucky Irving out vs. Seahawks, could also sit next week
Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving was ruled out for Sunday’s game against the host Seattle Seahawks, coach Todd Bowles announced Friday.
Per an ESPN report, Irving could also miss the team’s Week 6 game against the visiting San Francisco 49ers on Oct. 5 as he deals with a sprain in his left foot.
Irving, on crutches and wearing a walking boot earlier in the week, joined wide receiver Mike Evans (hamstring), safety Christian Izien (quadriceps) and cornerbacks Jamel Dean (hip) and Benjamin Morrison (hamstring) in sitting out practice Friday. All five players were ruled out for Sunday’s game versus the Seahawks (3-1).
Rachaad White, Sean Tucker and undrafted rookie Josh Williams are expected to handle the rushing responsibilities Sunday for Tampa Bay (3-1).
Irving gained 165 yards from scrimmage and had a 72-yard touchdown catch in Tampa’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles last week. The injury occurred in the first half when he was tackled by Eagles linebacker Jihaad Campbell.
Bowles had said Wednesday that if Irving was “not out of the boot by Friday, more than likely he’s not going to play.”
Irving has 430 yards from scrimmage in 2025, seventh in the NFL.
White has 23 carries for 108 yards and one touchdown this season. He also has eight receptions for 34 yards.
