Gavin Good’s three-run double with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning rallied Bushy Run to an 8-5 victory against St. Michael on Saturday in the Pennsylvania American Legion Region 7 tournament at Everett High School.
Bushy Run, the third-seeded team from District 31, rallied from a 5-0 deficit, scoring three runs in the third inning, one run in the fifth and four in the sixth.
In the sixth inning, before Good’s big hit, Eric Birosak executed a squeeze bunt to tie the score.
Chuck Fontana relieved Tyler Freas and shut down St. Michael over the final four innings.
Good had two doubles, and Freas had two singles for Bushy Run, which will play Young Township at 11 a.m. Sunday at Bedford High School.
Latrobe 13, Hollidaysburg 3: Logan Short hit a three-run homer in the first inning, and the Jethawks rolled to a five inning, 10-run rule victory.
Latrobe will face tournament host Bedford at 5 p.m. Sunday at Bedford.
The JetHawks had only six hits but took advantage of wildness from four Hollidaysburg pitchers, who hit six batters and walked eight.
Erik Batista and Lou Amatucci had double and single each for Latrobe, and Logan Bradish had two RBIs and a double.
Rayce King worked the first four innings to earn the win.
Latrobe scored eight runs in the second inning and eventually built a 13-0 lead.
Phillipsburg 4, Young Township 0: For the second consecutive game the Young Township bats were silent.
The Renegades collected only two hits and were blanked in the opening round.
Caden McCully had a double for Young Township.
Young Township pitchers Dustin Coleman, Hayden Brink and Bradley Felix limited Phillipsburg to three hits.
Phillipsburg grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Mike Kitko’s grounder was booted allowing two runs to score.
Kitko was the winning pitcher.
