Cal (Pa.) safety Lamont McPhatter returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown in the Vulcans’ upset of No. 2 IUP on Saturday.

Cal (Pa.) senior Lamont McPhatter II is aiming for a second All-American season.

McPhatter, a defensive back, was named to the preseason D2Football.com All-American First Team.

A consensus first-team All-American last season, McPhatter also is the reining Super Region One Defensive Athlete of the Year. He was the only defensive back in the nation to become a regional nominee for the Harlon Hill Trophy.

McPhatter led Cal with five interceptions and a national-best 198 return yards on those picks. He added 63 tackles and had a school-record 100-yard interception return against IUP in the Coal Bowl.

Two other PSAC players made the D2Football.com preseason All-America second-team. They are West Chester senior defensive back Jarey Elder and Lock Haven junior tight end Jalen Jackson.
