Right-hander Dylan Brosky allowed one base runner after the first inning on the way to completing Cal (Pa.)’s first no-hitter since 2014 in a 4-0 victory over IUP on Sunday at Wild Things Park in Washington.

A senior from Brownsville, Brosky is the first Vulcans’ pitcher to throw a no-hitter since Jack Dennis eight years ago. Randy Sturgill (Leechburg) was the last pitcher in the program to no-hit an opponent at home (2008).

Brosky (5-2) struck out seven and walked two and totaled 88 pitches. He retired the final 11 hitters and struck out IUP clean-up hitter Nick Hess to end it.

Brosky, who helped lead Brownsville to its first WPIAL title, settled in after allowing back-to-back walks in the opening inning.

Senior Anthony Venezia (Shaler), freshman center fielder Adam Crawford (West Allegheny) and sophomore left fielder Jax Miller had RBIs in the win.

Crawford and freshman first baseman Payton Conte (California) doubled.

Cal (21-8, 6-4 PSAC) swept the doubleheader with a 5-4 victory in Game 2.

IUP, coached by former major league pitcher Steve Kline, who played for the Cleveland Indians, Montreal Expos, St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles and San Francisco Giants in an 11-year career, moved to 13-14, 5-5.
