Campus clippings: Seton Hill runners win title in Lawrence County

The Seton Hill women’s cross country team won the Bill Lennox Invitational at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds with seven runners inside the top 11.

Senior Caitlyn Padgett also won the individual title in the 6K race in 22 minutes, 41 seconds. Sophomore Alexis Cunningham was fourth (23:16), senior Skye Christian finished fifth (23:31), freshman Maria Cawoski (Latrobe) was sixth (23:32) and freshman Isabelle McCabe ended seventh (23:37).

Padgett was recognized for her finish by being named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week for her sport.

Football

John Carroll: Sophomore safety Nate Leopold (Franklin Regional) made five tackles as JCU throttled Capital with a head-turning, 90-0 victory. The Blue Streaks (4-1, 3-1 OAC) outgained Capital, 695-141 and averaged 13.9 yards per play.

Towson: Redshirt freshman defensive lineman Bryce Lauer (Franklin Regional) has played in four games and has seven tackles this season.

Villanova: Junior tight end Todd Summers (Franklin Regional) pulled in six receptions for 50 yards and a touchdown as the Wildcats (6-1, 3-1) fell to James Madison, 38-24.

Women’s soccer

Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Kellie Lynch (Greensburg Salem) had her first assist of the season but the Vulcans fell to IUP, 3-1.

IUP: Senior forward Taylor Karan (Penn-Trafford) and senior defender Mya Hillard (Hempfield) each scored a goal for the Crimson Hawks (6-4, 5-4 PSAC).

Karan and Hillard have combined for 10 points: Karan has two goals and one assist, while Hillard has a goal and three helpers.

Women’s swimming

Saint Vincent: Freshman Lauren Connors was named PAC Rookie of the Week. She won three events in her first college meet at Bethany: the 50-yard freestyle (25.46 seconds), 100 butterfly (1:01.49) and 200 backstroke (2:16.86).
