Carolina Hurricanes’ Justin Williams faces reporters during a media availability Wednesday, May 8, 2019, in Boston, in advance of Thursday’s Game One of the Stanley Cup Eastern Conference final series against the Boston Bruins.

Playoff losses can be hard to swallow. Just ask Carolina Hurricanes captain Justin Williams.

After his team suffered a 6-2 loss to the Boston Bruins on Sunday, Williams summed up the experience with an unappetizing analogy.

“Sometimes you gotta eat a poop sandwich,” Williams said. “It doesn’t taste good. You have to chew on it for a little bit, and we’ll have to do it for a couple of days and get the taste out of our mouth next game.”
