The video includes shots of Underwood and Joan Jett, who joins for the new version of the song.
“Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” was adapted from Jett’s 1988 hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You.” Pink first performed it in 2006, followed by a country version sung by Faith Hill for six seasons and then Underwood, who did her own version from 2013 to 2015. The show is bringing back the song this year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers play the New England Patriots for Week 1’s “SNF,” so there are several shots of players from both team in the clip.
Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster, linebacker T.J. Watt, and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger appear. For the Patriots, wide receiver Julian Edelman, linebacker Dont’a Hightower and quarterback Tom Brady are highlighted.
The broadcast kicks off at 8 p.m. on Sept. 8.
