The 2020 College Basketball Invitational is off, canceled out of precaution over the “uncertainty” with the coronavirus outbreak, the Gazelle Group announced Wednesday.

“Due to the uncertainty about the coronavirus and the impact it is having on college campuses across the country, we have decided to cancel the 2020 College Basketball Invitational,” the statement read.

The announcement comes as more and more sporting events are being postponed or canceled in the wake of the covid-19 outbreak.

The Gazelle Group said they look forward to the CBI tournament, which has been going on since the 2007-08 season, returning in 2021.

The CBI involves 16 teams from those not selected for the NCAA tournament or the NIT.

Pitt won the CBI in 2012.
