The Charleston Battery rallied for a pair of second-half goals to secure a 2-1 win on Saturday, ending a modest two-game winning streak for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.

The Hounds (2-2-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first half. A Robbie Mertz free kick into the center of the penalty area pinballed out to Bradley Sample at the top of the 18 and he buried a shot at the 40-minute mark.

After Cal Jennings badly missed a penalty kick in the waning moment of the first half, Charleston (3-2-0) mounted its comeback in the second half.

In the 67th minute, MD Myers back a back-heel pass to send Aaron Malloy into open space just outside the penalty area and his shot found the top corner of the net to make it 1-1.

In the 80th minute, a Juan Torres pass sent Jennings through toward the right post and he delivered the winning goal.

Goalkeeper Eric Dick made a season-high six saves for the Riverhounds, who will return to action at 6 p.m. Tuesday when they visit Columbus Crew 2 of MLS Next Pro in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup.
