Chatham named Seton Hill pitching coach D.J. Cannon as its baseball coach. Cannon replaces Tim Banner, who resigned after the season.

“D.J. comes with a great record of success, both academically and athletically,” Chatham athletic director Leonard Trevino said in a release. “We’re excited to name D.J. as our next coach. We feel he is going to continue to move our program in the right direction.”

Cannon graduated from Seton Hill in 2011. From 2008-12, he posted 12 wins and ranks fourth with a career ERA at 3.79.

He earned All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors in 2008. Cannon helped develop former Seton Hill pitcher Perry DellaValle into a 27th-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018. Cannon handled the bulk of the recruiting duties in Pennsylvania and oversaw all strength and conditioning for the program.

A three-sport high school letterman in football, basketball and baseball, Cannon is a member of the Mars High School Athletics Hall of Fame. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business/entrepreneurial studies in 2011 and earned his MBA in management at Seton Hill in the spring of 2014.
