Chris Common breaks Pitt-Greensburg hits record

A common name keeps appearing in the Pitt-Greensburg baseball record book.

Senior left fielder Chris Common, a Penn-Trafford graduate, became the Bobcats’ all-time leader in hits during a doubleheader against D’Youville Saturday at Bobcat Park in Greensburg.

On senior day, Common singled three times to move past Greg Lynn for the top spot in program history. Lynn, who played from 2013-16, had 167 hits. Common how has 168.

Common, who also is UPG’s career leader in home runs, helped his teammates sweep the doubleheader to extend the their winning streak to four.

UPG had 34 hits and 31 runs in the two-game surge against D’Youville. The Bobcats won by scores of 12-3 and 19-3.

Sophomore Dylan DeRoss and senior Tyler Holland each had six hits over the two games, and sophomore Evan Johnston (Belle Vernon) homered for the Bobcats (13-17, 10-6 AMCC).
