Chuks Okorafor out, Chase Claypool questionable for Steelers vs. Packers
Some fans have been wanting the Pittsburgh Steelers to make a change along their offensive line. One is coming, but not by choice.
Right tackle Chuks Okorafor will not play in Sunday’s game at the Green Bay Packers, the team announced via its league-mandated injury report Friday. Okorafor is in the NFL’s concussion protocol after absorbing a hit during the second half of last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Veteran Joe Haeg took over during that game and is line to start Sunday.
The playing status of another starter on offense is in serious doubt. Receiver Chase Claypool did not practice on Friday because of a hamstring injury. That typically is an indication that he will not play in the ensuing Sunday’s game, but the Steelers listed him as questionable on the official injury report.
The Steelers finished the Bengals game without the other two of their three starting receivers, but JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) and Diontae Johnson (knee) are good to go against Green Bay after each practiced fully Friday.
The same can be said for the Steelers’ outside linebackers duo of T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith. Each was a full practice participant Friday and is cleared to play versus the Packers after sitting out the Cincinnati game because of groin injuries.
Joining Okorafor as players designated as out Sunday are reserve offensive lineman Rashaad Coward and defensive lineman Carlos Davis. Coward suffered an ankle injury during Friday’s practice, and Davis will miss his third consecutive game because of a knee injury.
Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger made it through a normal practice week’s worth of work unscathed as he deals with a pectoral injury.
