Duquesne's Megan McConnell earns invite to WNBA training camp in Phoenix
Megan McConnell will take her shot at becoming the latest member of her family to play professional basketball.
After wrapping up a decorated career at Duquesne last month, the 5-foot-7 guard received an invitation to attend training camp with the Phoenix Mercury after the conclusion of the WNBA Draft on Monday night. She is scheduled to report to camp April 27.
McConnell, a four-time all-state player at Chartiers Valley, finished as Duquesne’s all-time leader in assists (660), steals (370), games played (144) and triple doubles (4). She is second in team history in points (1,795) and rebounds (1,079).
Brother TJ McConnell is averaging 9.1 points and 4.4 assists per game with the Indiana Pacers this season. Aunt Suzie McConnell-Serio played three seasons with the WNBA’s Cleveland Rockers in 1998-2000.
