Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin looks at a replay on the scoreboard during a game last month at Acrisure Stadium. The Steelers are a relatively healthy team heading into their Week 12 Thursday night game at the Cleveland Browns.

Whatever hopes for Alex Highsmith to play Thursday appear to have been extinguished.

The outside linebacker sat out the lone Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice of the week in advance of Thursday night’s game at the Cleveland Browns.

Highsmith was the only Steelers player who missed Tuesday’s practice because of injury, according to the status report. Highsmith suffered an ankle injury late in the Nov. 10 win at the Washington Commanders and did not play in this past Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The only other player with an injury designation on the Steelers active roster this week — reserve tight end MyCole Pruitt — was a full participant Tuesday, two days after he missed a game because of a knee injury.

Also practicing in full Tuesday was defensive back Cory Trice, who remains on injured reserve and must be activated to the active roster at some point over the next two weeks if he is to play again this season. Trice has missed seven games because of a hamstring injury.
