Cox and socks: Jeannette grad has some fun with "solemade" company

Demetrious Cox likes to stay up on trendy fashions when he can, and if he didn’t already have a mean sock game, he will now.

Cox, a Jeannette native who is primed to go to training camp with the Cincinnati Bengals, teamed up with “solemade,” a sock company out of Fellbach, Deutschland. He will endorse their product.

Cox said solemade approached him about its design and using his name and number 37 on the full-knit socks that are worn by a number of pro athletes and teams. He has been paying special attention to his socks and their play in his outfits since he was a youngster and wearing glittery Michael Jackson socks — he once performed as the King of Pop at The Apollo in New York; and he later emulated Bruce Lee with short white socks in martial arts competitions en route to a black belt.

“Lately, I’ve been into finding unique socks for my suits that have my pants tapered and I can see my ankles,” Cox said. “My sock game has improved a lot, on and off the field lately.”

The safety said he had a strong mini camp and is set for the next phase in preseason training. He hopes for a more significant role in the Cincinnati defensive backfield.

Now, he’ll look to, well, get off on the right foot.
