Football in shorts is about seven weeks away for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The NFL released the dates of each team’s organized team activities (OTA) schedule on Monday, and the Steelers will get their players together for voluntary workouts starting Tuesday, May 21.

The Steelers will conduct 10 voluntary OTA sessions over a three-week stretch. The dates are May 21-23, May 28-30 and June 3-6. The three-day minicamp, which is mandatory, will be held June 11-13. No contact is permitted, but teams are allowed to have 11-on-11 practices.

The OTAs and minicamp practices will be held at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex and are closed to the public.

Phase One of the Steelers’ offseason conditioning program begins April 15. In that phase, players are limited to strength and conditioning work, although quarterbacks are permitted to throw to wide receivers without coverage.

After that two-week period, they will have three weeks of individual instruction and practice time on a “separates” basis. There is no live contact or team drills allowed during Phase Two.

The Steelers also hold a three-day rookie minicamp. Although those dates haven’t been announced, the Steelers are expected to hold that minicamp May 10-12.
