Diontae Johnson, Mason Cole added to lengthening Steelers injury report
An already-lengthy Pittsburgh Steelers injury report added two starters to the list Thursday.
Wide receiver Diontae Johnson and center Mason Cole were new to the practice status report. Each was a limited participant, with Johnson having a hip injury and Cole a foot ailment.
Johnson and Cole join seven other significant contributors to the defense — including the entire five-man starting secondary — who were on the injury report Wednesday. Upgraded, though, on Thursday were the starting safety duo of Minkah Fitzpatrick and Terrell Edmunds, who practiced fully Thursday after being limited Wednesday. Fitzpatrick has a knee injury, and Edmunds is in NFL concussion protocol.
It remained status quo from Wednesday for the other defensive players on the injury report: cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) did not practice again, and cornerbacks Cameron Sutton (groin/hamstring) and Levi Wallace (foot) and defensive linemen Cameron Heyward (ankle/elbow) and Chris Wormley (ankle) remained listed as limited participants.
Friday is the final practice of the week in advance of Sunday’s game at the Buffalo Bills.
