Diontae Johnson misses Steelers practice because of knee injury
Wide receiver Diontae Johnson was an addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ injury report, missing practice Wednesday because of a knee injury.
Johnson practiced fully Tuesday and has not been referenced by coach Mike Tomlin as nursing any ailment.
The Steelers have one more full practice Thursday before their league-mandated status report is due in advance of Saturday’s game at the Indianapolis Colts.
Also not practicing Wednesday was starting left guard Isaac Seumalo, who has been nursing a shoulder injury but played through it during last week during the game against New England.
Among those upgraded at Wednesday’s practice from the day prior were running back Najee Harris (knee), safety Damontae Kazee (ankle), inside linebacker Elandon Roberts (groin) and defensive lineman Cameron Heyward (groin). Heyward, Harris and Roberts have had their respective injuries for multiple weeks but have played through them. Heyward and Kazee practiced fully after being limited Tuesday, Roberts was limited Wednesday after sitting out Tuesday, and Harris was a full go Wednesday after not practicing at all Tuesday.
Defensive lineman Keeanu Benton (limited, oblique) and reserve cornerback James Pierre (full, shoulder) remained status quo from Tuesday and are expected to be available against the Colts.
Tomlin announced Monday that quarterback Kenny Pickett would miss a second consecutive game because of an ankle injury.
The Steelers starting duo of outside linebackers practiced Wednesday while in concussion protocol, with T.J. Watt listed a full participant and Alex Highsmith remaining limited.
