District 31 Legion baseball heating up entering new week of games

Hempfield East sits atop the District 31 American Legion standings heading into a new week of games.

The team is 5-0 and has outscored its opponents by a 52-14 margin.

Not far behind in second place is Latrobe at 5-1. It has only surrendered six runs in its six games and has scored 32.

The rest of the standings has Kiski Valley at 4-1, Bushy Run at 2-0, Unity and Yough both at 3-2, Young Township at 1-3 and Mt. Pleasant at 1-4.

Both Murrysville (0-4) and Derry (0-7) seek their first wins of the season.

Sunday’s action saw Bushy Run defeat Derry by a 10-2 score, while Kiski Valley doubled up Yough, 4-2.

A pair of games are on tap for Monday evening. Unity will take on Bushy Run at Penn-Trafford High School, while Latrobe pays a visit to Murrysville at Murrysville’s Haymaker Park.

Six teams are in action Tuesday. Young Township and Derry meet at Derry High School, Murrysville takes on Kiski Valley at Laube Hall Field at Freeport Community Park, and Bushy Run visits Yough at Yough High School.

All weeknight games begin at 6 p.m.
