Khalid Dorsey ran for 123 yards and three touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock to a 42-21 victory over rival IUP in PSAC football Saturday.
Bryaden Long went 18 for 23 passing for 277 yards and ran for a touchdown, and Kyle Sheetz had five catches for 131 yards for SRU (5-0, 2-0). Dayjune Stewart ran for 89 yards and a touchdown for IUP (3-2, 1-1). Quarterback Karst Hunter ran for two touchdowns but was intercepted three times.
Cal (Pa.) 37, Clarion 7 – Davis Black threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns to lead Cal (Pa.) (3-1, 2-0) to a PSAC victory over Clarion (1-4, 0-2). Eric Willis III caught eight passes for 120 yards and a touchdown for the Vulcans, who outgained Clarion 488-209. Zach Benedek threw for 65 yards and rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Eagles.
Gannon 23, Seton Hill 6 – Donny Marcus ran for 186 yards, including a 74-yard touchdown run, and Eric Scarpino made three field goals for Gannon (2-3, 2-0) in a PSAC win. Gannon held a 270-19 advantage in rushing yards. Demetri Whitehead had a 93-yard kick return for a touchdown for Seton Hill (1-4, 0-2).
Edinboro 40, Mercyhurst 24 – Brian Trobel ran for 140 yards and three touchdowns for Edinboro (2-3, 1-1) in a PSAC win. Quarterback Matt Carlisle ran for 125 yards and a touchdown and threw for 116 yards and a score. Adam Urena threw for 322 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions for Mercyhurst (1-4, 0-2).
Division III
Carnegie Mellon 19, Allegheny 3 – Tre Vasiliadis ran for 101 yards as Carnegie Mellon (4-1, 4-1) held a 142-32 advantage over Allegheny (2-3, 2-3) in rushing yards in PAC play. Ben Mills threw for 163 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions and Ethan Reifer caught nine passes for 112 yards. Jack Johnson went 15 for 33 for 115 yards and an interception for Allegheny.
Grove City 31, Washington & Jefferson 24 — Scott Fraser caught two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to rally Grove City, which is 5-0 for the first time since 1926. Nico Flati ran for 120 yards and Logan Pfeuffer threw for 185 yards and three scores for Grove City (5-0, 5-0). Jacob Pugh was 29 for 40 for 296 yards and three touchdowns, all to John Pedruzzi, for Washington & Jefferson (4-1, 4-1). Pedruzzi caught 13 balls for 202 yards.
Saint Vincent 28, Geneva 19 — Max Pisula recorded 11 tackles, including two sacks and a forced fumble, and also ran for a score to lead the Bearcats (2-2, 2-2) to a PAC win. Ty Martin ran for 92 yards and two touchdowns and Austin Wells recovered a fumble for a score. Josh Syster ran for 104 yards for Geneva (1-3, 1-3).
Thiel 15, Waynesburg 14 – Quarterback Joseph Fell finished off a 19-play, 80-yard drive with a 6-yard touchdown run with 2:08 to go to lift Thiel (2-3, 2-3) to a PAC victory. Fell threw for 141 yards and ran for 122 and two scores. Zayne Cawley ran for 103 yards and a TD for Waynesburg (0-5, 0-5).
Division I FCS
St. Francis (Pa.) 15, Stonehill 10 — Deondre Scott scored on a 1-yard run with 19 seconds left to lift St. Francis (Pa.) to a Northeast Conference win.
Perry Shelbred kicked a 51-yard field goal to give Stonehill (2-3, 1-1) a 10-9 lead with 3:38 remaining in the game before the Red Flash responded with an 11-play, 75-yard drive that culminated when Scott took a hand off, went up the middle and dived over the pile into the end zone to make it 15-9 with 19 seconds to play.
Scott, who finished with 59 yards rushing on 14 attempts, had eight carries for 22 yards on the winning drive. Dawson Snyder, who drew a defensive pass interference penalty that gave St. Francis (1-4, 1-1 Northeast Conference) a fresh set of downs at midfield and then had receptions for gains of 21 and 11 yards to set up Scott’s go-ahead TD.
Snyder finished with seven receptions for 87 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown that gave the Red Flash a 9-7 lead (the PAT failed) with 11:55 to play.
