District college football roundup: Brady Walker throws 5 TD passes in Saint Vincent win

Brady Walker threw for 315 yards and five touchdowns to lead Saint Vincent (3-4, 3-2) to a 52-35 victory over Allegheny (2-6, 1-5) in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference matchup Saturday.

Molayo Irefin caught nine passes for 103 yards and a touchdown for Saint Vincent, which picked up 439 yards overall. Tre Worship rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns for Allegheny.

Carnegie Mellon 41, Geneva 0 – Ben Mills threw for 234 yards and a touchdown and Tre Vasiliadis ran for 61 yards and a score as Carnegie Mellon (8-0, 6-0) stayed unbeaten with a PAC victory. CMU scored on a 29-yard punt return by Aryan Hegde and a 27-yard fumble return by Thomas Coury. Hilton McClain Jr. had six catches for 11 yards for Geneva (1-6, 1-4).

Waynesburg 34, Thiel 8 – Justin Flack ran for 151 yards and three touchdowns, including a 55-yarder, and Hunter Cameron added 96 rushing yards and a touchdown, as Wayneburg (4-3, 3-2) rolled to a PAC victory. Dakota Romantino had four catches for 72 yards and a score. Jordan Collier ran for 73 yards and a TD for Thiel (1-6, 1-4).

Westminster 24, Grove City 17 — In PAC play, Ryan Gomes ran for 110 yards as Westminster (4-3, 3-2) held on to defeat Grove City (6-2, 4-2). Tyler McGowan threw for 219 yards for Westminster, 101 to Tylon Eilam, who had six receptions. Logan Pfeuffer threw for 160 yards and a touchdown and ran for a late score to pull Grove City, which trailed by 17 points midway through the fourth quarter, to within seven points.

Division II

Edinboro 47, Clarion 14 Thaddeus Standfield caught eight passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns as Edinboro (4-4, 2-3) defeated Clarion (3-5, 2-3) in PSAC play. Isaac Bernard threw for 235 yards and three touchdowns for the Fighting Scots. Defensively, Allen Stritzinger had two interceptions for Edinboro, including returning one for a 91-yard touchdown. Zach Benedek threw for 104 yards for Clarion and rushed for 67 yards, including a 67-yard touchdown.

Gannon 49, Mercyhurst 14 Melvin Blanks ran for 173 yards and three touchdowns to lead Gannon (6-2, 4-1) over Mercyhurst (2-6, 0-5) in a PSAC contest. Kory Curtis tossed for 155 yards and two touchdowns for Gannon, which outgained Mercyhurst, 432 yards to 224 yards. Joe Carter threw for 151 yards and one touchdown in the loss.

IUP 44, Seton Hill 7 – Duane Brown caught four passes for 86 yards and three touchdowns as IUP (7-0, 5-0) stayed undefeated with a PSAC win. Mak Sexton was 17 for 25 for 238 yards and four touchdowns, and Hilton Ridley caught seven balls for 112 yards. IUP held Seton Hill (0-8, 0-5) to minus-1 yard rushing. Hezikiah Hawkins had a TD catch for the Griffins.

Slippery Rock 42, Cal (Pa.) 24 – Noah Grover threw four touchdown passes, including an 85-yarder to Kyle Sheets, as Slippery Rock (7-1, 4-1) rolled to a PSAC win. Grover was 17 for 27 for 297 yards, and Sheets caught four passes for 115 yards. For Cal (Pa.) (4-4, 3-1), Noah Mitchell was 30 of 44 for 302 yards and two touchdown passes to JaQuae Jackson.

Division I FCS

St. Francis (Pa.) 17, Stonehill 13 – Elijah Sarratt raced to a 65-yard touchdown and St. Francis (Pa.) held on to beat Stonehill to remain unbeaten in the Northeast Conference and collect its fifth straight win. Sarratt took a forward toss from Cole Doyle behind the line of scrimmage and sprinted around the right side for a 14-3 lead late in the first quarter.

Perry Shelbred’s second field goal got Stonehill (3-2, 1-2) within 14-6 at halftime and Jermaine Corbett’s 1-yard score brought the Skyhawks within a point in the second half. Alex Schmoke’s 37-yard field goal late in the third quarter gave the Red Flash (5-2, 4-0) a five-point margin that held up.

Doyle threw for 156 yards with a TD and an interception and added 70 yards rushing. Sarratt finished with 99 yards receiving on five catches.
