Caron Robinson rushed for 125 yards and a touchdown to lead Edinboro to a 22-6 victory over Seton Hill in PSAC football Saturday afternoon.
Nate Deanes had nine tackles, a forced fumble and a touchdown on a 70-yard fumble return in the fourth quarter for Edinboro (5-4, 4-1). Anthony Stribling had two sacks for Seton Hill (4-6, 2-4), which limited Edinboro to only 19 passing yards and 173 yards overall.
Cal (Pa.) 31, No. 24 Frostburg State 26 – Kendrick Agenor ran for 99 yards and two touchdowns as Cal (Pa.) (6-3) beat No. 24 Frostburg State (7-2) in a nonconference matchup. Keith Charney had 12 tackles and an interception for the Vulcans while teammate Malachi Thomas scored the first touchdown of the game on a 42-yard interception return. Frostburg State’s Osman Fanny followed that score by returning the ensuing kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown. The Vulcans scored on a kickoff return of their own when Deontae Williams returned one 92 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
IUP 26, Gannon 6 – Matthew Rueve was 37 for 50 passing for 356 yards and two touchdowns to lead IUP (6-2, 4-1) to a PSAC win. Maurice Massey caught eight passes for 119 yards, Devin Whitlock had nine catches for 78 yards and a touchdown and Jeremiah Coleman added four catches for 52 yards and a score for the Crimson Hawks. Chase Holmes had two catches for 73 yards for Gannon (1-8, 1-4).
Slippery Rock 42, Clarion 23 – JayJay Jordan ran for 176 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 22 Slippery Rock (6-2, 3-2) to the PSAC win against Clarion (6-3, 2-3). DaOne Owens threw for 239 yards and two touchdowns and added 51 rushing yards for Slippery Rock. Michael Heywood had eight tackles and returned an interception 53 yards and a touchdown for the Rock, which had four sacks and two interceptions. Jase Ferguson threw for 233 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 67 yards for Clarion.
Division III
Carnegie Mellon 70, Dickinson 29 – Joey McGinnis threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 121 yards and another score to lead Carnegie Mellon (5-3, 2-2) to a Centennial Conference win. Carter Sheets caught nine passes for 118 yards and a touchdown and freshman quarterback Mark Wamhoff ran for four short-yardage touchdowns. Ben Klassen threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns for Dickinson (4-4, 2-2).
Grove City 59, Saint Vincent 14 – Ian Demeri rushed for four touchdowns as Grove City (6-2, 5-1) downed Saint Vincent (2-6, 1-5) in PAC play. Chase Rankin led Grove City’s ground game with 87 rushing yards and a touchdown while Ethan Wiley tossed for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Paul Work had four catches for 50 yards and a touchdown for the Bearcats.
Thiel 48, Hiram 20 – Jayveerh White ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns as Thiel (1-7, 1-5) won a PAC contest on the road at Hiram (3-5, 2-4). Keller Herzberger threw for 199 yards and two touchdowns and scored on a 1-yard run for the Tomcats. Jake Badger led Thiel’s defense with eight tackles, an interception and a touchdown on a 49-yard fumble return. Sean Tejeda threw for 236 yards and two touchdowns for Hiram.
Washington & Jefferson 28, Case Western 17 – Kobe DeRosa ran for 107 yards and two touchdowns to lead Washington & Jefferson (6-2, 6-0) to a PAC victory. Kellan Stahl threw for 184 yards and a touchdown to John Peduzzi, who had eight catches for 87 yards. Sam DeTillio threw for 194 yards and a touchdown and ran for 84 yards and a score for Case Western (4-3-1, 4-2).
Waynesburg 48, Bethany 28 – Carson Shriver rushed for 228 yards and a touchdown and Thomas Burke III was 10 for 15 passing for 167 yards and two scores to lead Waynesburg (3-6, 3-4) to a PAC victory. Isaac Trout returned a kickoff 91 yards for the Yellow Jackets. Brett Phillips threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 103 yards and a score for Bethany (0-8, 0-6).
Westminster 57, Allegheny 21 – In PAC play, Quentin Goode threw for 292 yards and two touchdowns as Westminster (5-3, 4-2) defeated Allegheny (3-6, 3-4). Clayton Cannon Jr. ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns and teammate Brite Cannon caught eight passes for 136 yards and a TD for Westminster. Devin Larry had six receptions for 183 yards and three touchdowns for Allegheny.
Division I FCS
Wagner 23, Saint Francis 20 – Nicholas Romero made a game-winning 28-yard field goal on the final play to lead Wagner past winless Saint Francis. Wagner went ahead 20-17 with 6:57 left in the fourth quarter on an 8-yard run by Andre Hines Jr, but Saint Francis answered with an eight-play drive that took nearly five minutes off the clock, ending in a 21-yard field goal by Mac Plummer. Wagner (3-6, 2-2 Northeast Conference) forced four turnovers. Saint Francis (0-8, 0-4) was led by Jordan Theodore’s 121 yards rushing on 24 carries.
