District college football roundup: CMU defense shuts down Saint Vincent

Tre Vasiliadis ran for 102 yards and three touchdowns to lead Carnegie Mellon (6-2, 6-1) to a 34-7 victory over Saint Vincent (4-4, 3-4) in PAC play Saturday.

Carnegie Mellon’s defense shut down Saint Vincent’s run game, giving up zero rushing yards. The Bearcats’ Brady Walker threw for 208 yards and a touchdown to Molayo Irefin, who caught 10 passes for 112 yards.

Washington & Jefferson 28, Grove City 24 — Derry grad Justin Huss scored on a 90-yard kickoff return and a 19-yard run to lead Washington & Jefferson (7-1, 6-1) to a PAC win. Joey Koroly ran 16 times for 80 yards and a score. Drew Ehrlich had two of the Presidents’ four interceptions. Zach Trusky had 19 carries for 133 yards and a touchdown for Grove City (6-2, 5-2).

Westminster 42, Bethany 6 — Cole Konieczka completed 12 of 18 passes for 199 yards and four touchdowns to lead Westminster (6-2, 6-1) to a PAC victory over Bethany (1-7, 1-6). Tylon Eilam had four catches for 60 yards and two TDs.

Wittenberg 29, Allegheny 19 — Collin Brown was 13 for 29 for 222 yards and a touchdown and Bryce Anderson ran 19 times for 118 yards and a score to lead Wittenberg (5-3, 5-2) to a NCAC win. Jake Saus had six catches for 145 yards and a touchdown. Jack Johnson went 26 for 50 for 376 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions for Allegheny (2-6, 1-6). Declan O’Brien had nine grabs for 101 yards and a score.

Division II

Edinboro 21, IUP 17 — Isaac Bernard went 8 for 10 on a 15-play, 88-yard touchdown drive in the fourth quarter to lead Edinboro (2-6, 2-4) to a comeback PSAC win. Deer Lakes grad Jack Hollibaugh caught the go-ahead touchdown, a 7-yarder. Anthony Mendicino blocked a pair of punts for Edinboro, including one that was returned for a score. Justice Evans ran 22 times for 143 yards for IUP (5-3, 4-2). Harry Woodbery went 14 for 33 for 200 yards and a touchdown.

Cal (Pa.) 42, Seton Hill 14 — Noah Mitchell went 27 for 43 for 339 yards and five touchdowns to lead Cal (Pa.) (8-0, 5-0) to a PSAC win. Derek Lockhart caught 10 passes for 135 yards and three touchdowns and JaQuae Jackson had seven grabs for 121 yards and two scores. Logan Wiland carried 33 times for 166 yards for Seton Hill (4-5, 2-4). Jake McCormick was 11 for 32 for 136 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Mercyhurst 38, Clarion 20 — David Alize rushed for 101 yards as Mercyhurst (3-6, 2-4) beat Clarion (0-8, 0-5) in a PSAC matchup. Mercyhurst’s defense recorded five interceptions, including one by Thomas Zacharyasz that was returned 33 yards for a touchdown. Terrell Ford caught seven passes for 130 yards and one touchdown for Clarion.

Slippery Rock 63, Gannon 21 — Noah Grover completed 32 of 40 passes for 439 yards and a school-record eight touchdowns to lead No. 15 Slippery Rock (8-1, 5-1) to the PSAC win at Gannon (4-5, 3-3). Henry Litwin caught 10 passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns while Evyn Holtz rushed for 109 yards. Slippery Rock amassed 671 yards of offense. Kory Curtis tossed for 208 yards and two touchdowns for Gannon.
