District college football roundup: Greensburg Salem connection lifts Seton Hill past IUP

Hayden Teska hit Cody Rubrecht on a 35-yard touchdown pass with 1:43 to go to lead Seton Hill to a 35-28 victory over IUP in PSAC football Saturday afternoon. Teska and Rubrecht are both Greensburg Salem graduates.

Teska was 14 for 22 for 259 yards and three touchdowns. Ky’Ron Craggette had 143 yards and two touchdowns rushing and 43 yards and another score receiving for the Griffins (3-5, 2-3). Nico Marchitelli threw for 271 yards and two touchdowns for IUP (4-4, 2-3). Daniel Deabner had four catches for 80 yards and two scores.

Clarion 34, Edinboro 20 – Anthony Guercio threw for 74 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 155 yards and one TD to lead Clarion (2-6, 1-4) to the PSAC win at Edinboro (2-6, 1-4). Johnny Hutton had four tackles, an interception and a fumble recovery for Clarion’s defense. Isaac Taylor threw for 324 yards and two touchdowns, including one to Teagan Brown, for Edinboro. Brown finished with 10 receptions for 154 yards.

Gannon 31, Mercyhurst 28 – Eric Scarpino hit a 32-yard field goal with six seconds left as Gannon (4-4, 4-1) retained the Niagara Cup with a PSAC win over Mercyhurst (2-6, 1-4). Jaylen Whitaker threw for 131 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 59 yards and another score for Gannon. Donny Marcus had 176 yards rushing. Adam Urena threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns for Mercyhurst.

Slippery Rock 42, Cal (Pa.) 21 – In PSAC play, Brayden Long threw for 299 yards and a touchdown as No. 7 Slippery Rock (8-0, 5-0) defeated Cal (Pa.) (5-2, 4-1). Khalid Dorsey ran for 100 yards and a touchdown while Chris D’Or added 95 rushing yards and one TD for Slippery Rock, which outgained Cal (Pa.), 532-226. Eric McKan III ran for 99 yards for the Vulcans.

Division III

Carnegie Mellon 35, Washington & Jefferson 14 – Willem Bouma ran for 150 yards and five touchdowns, including a 55-yard TD run in the first quarter and a 70-yarder in the second, to lead Carnegie Mellone (7-1, 7-1) to a PAC victory. Tre Vasiliadis added 101 rushing yards for CMU. Jacob Pugh threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns and Jacob Macosko had five catches for 167 yards and two scores for Washington & Jefferson (5-2, 5-2).

Case Western 35, Waynesburg 0 – Gage Duesler ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns as Case Western (6-1, 6-1) shut out Waynesburg (1-6, 1-6) in PAC play. Alex Fromberg threw for 231 yards and a touchdown for Case Western, which outgained Waynesburg 472-187.

Geneva 45, Bethany 20 – Josh Syster ran for 225 yards and a touchdown and Logan Kent rushed for 128 yards and two scores as Geneva (3-4, 3-4) dominated on the ground en route to a PAC victory. Geneva held a 448-74 advantage in rushing yards. Jacob Munoz had five catches for 108 yards and a touchdown for Bethany (0-7, 0-7).

Grove City 49, Saint Vincent 0 – No. 22 Grove City (8-0, 8-0) recorded seven sacks, forced three turnovers and held Saint Vincent (2-5, 2-5) to 139 total yards in its PAC win. Jack Jollie had seven tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery while Ryan Fleming had one sack and one interception. Nico Flati ran for 144 yards and one touchdown while Logan Pfeuffer threw for 150 yards and three TDs. Austin Wells caught nine passes for 111 yards for Saint Vincent.

Westminster 27, Allegheny 17 – Ryan Gomes rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown and 75 yards receiving and another score to lift Westminster (4-3, 4-3) to a PAC win. Ty McGowan was 8 for 14 for 163 yards and two scores for Westminster. Jack Johnson was 27 for 49 for 265 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for Allegheny (2-6, 2-6). Ian Durci had seven catches for 107 yards.
