Judd Novak threw for 188 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 4 Kutztown to a 28-23 victory over IUP in the PSAC championship game Saturday afternoon.
Steven Burkhardt led Kutztown (11-0) on the ground, rushing for 107 yards and a touchdown. Brayden Pohlman, who was named the game’s MVP, had two of Kutztown’s six sacks as IUP (7-3) had minus-12 yards rushing for the game.
Matthew Rueve threw for 295 yards and three touchdowns for IUP, which led by three at halftime.
Bloomsburg 30, Slippery Rock 24 (OT) – Quarterback K.J. Riley scored on a 1-yard run in overtime as Bloomsburg (3-8) defeated Slippery Rock (6-4) in a PSAC crossover matchup. Slippery Rock’s earlier overtime possession ended when DaOne Owens was sacked on fourth down by Ian Donohue. Riley threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns. JayJay Jordan rushed for 181 yards and two touchdowns for Slippery Rock, which trailed 24-10 heading into the fourth quarter.
Cal (Pa.) 35, Shippensburg 10 – Roman Purcell threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing TD as Cal (Pa.) (8-3) defeated Shippensburg (3-8). Alexie Sangster Jr. had 15 tackles and two sacks for the Vulcans, who recorded seven sacks overall.
East Stroudsburg 42, Clarion 34 – Harrison Susi ran 13 times for 144 yards and two touchdowns to lead East Stroudsburg (8-3) to a PSAC crossover win. Anthony Guercio threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score while JaTawn Williams caught five passes for 89 yards and a TD for Clarion (6-5).
Edinboro 63, Millersville 10 – Caron Robinson ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns as Edinboro (7-4) put up nearly 600 yards of offense in its win over Millersville (0-11). Nico Marchitelli threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns and DaeDae Allen caught seven passes for 142 yards and a touchdown. Tommy Hunsicker tossed for 233 yards and a touchdown for Millersville.
Lock Haven 49, Gannon 28 – Jackson Ostrowsky threw for 459 yards and five touchdowns to lead Lock Haven (6-5) to the PSAC crossover win over Gannon (1-10). Mekhi Watson caught 10 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns for Lock Haven while teammates Justin Popovich added seven receptions for 128 yards and one TD while Jaiden Huntington caught seven passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Rolando Perez ran for 156 yards and a touchdown for Gannon.
Shepherd 21, Seton Hill 13 – Jordan Barnett ran for 81 yards and a touchdown as Shepherd (7-4) beat Seton Hill (4-7) in a PSAC crossover game. Will Ennis sealed the win by returning an interception 31 yards for a touchdown with three seconds left in the game. Shepherd, which limited Seton Hill to 128 yards, trailed 13-7 at halftime. D’Kairi Boone had eight tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble for Seton Hill.
Division III
Allegheny 42, Bethany 6 – Dominic Berardu rushed for 146 yards and two touchdowns as Allegheny (4-6, 4-4) beat Bethany (1-9, 1-7) in PAC play. Sean Siska threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns for Allegheny. Brett Phillips threw for 256 yards and Bethany’s only touchdown.
Geneva 43, Case Western 16 – Caleb Romano threw for 213 yards and three touchdowns as Geneva (6-4, 6-2) defeated Case Western (4-5-1, 4-4). David Reid rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown for the Golden Tornadoes. Nicholas Ciriello had 12 tackles, a sack and a fumble return, Noah Hutcherson had nine tackles and two sacks, and Demarean Frazier scored on a 98-yard interception return for Geneva’s defense.
Grove City 63, Hiram 14 – Chase Rankin ran for 91 yards and two touchdowns and Mason Clouse and Jase Herrick each scored on interception returns as Grove City (8-2, 7-1) downed Hiram (3-7, 2-6) in PAC play. Jack Jollie recorded nine tackles, 1 ½ sacks and a forced fumble for Grove City, which recorded six sacks overall. Sean Tejeda threw for 285 yards and two touchdowns for Hiram.
Ursinus 27, Carnegie Mellon 20 – Tristan Machado threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns to lead Ursinus (6-4, 3-4) to the Centennial Conference win over Carnegie Mellon (5-5, 3-4). Aidan Roselle caught six passes for 106 yards and a touchdown for Ursinus while teammate Ryder Zulkowski had seven receptions for 93 yards and two TDs. Robert Sturges scored on a 23-yard interception return for CMU.
Washington & Jefferson 67, Thiel 0 – Kellan Stahl completed 13 of 14 passes for 211 yards and three touchdowns as Washington & Jefferson (8-2, 8-0) scored 36 points in the first quarter in its PAC win over Thiel (1-9, 1-7). The Presidents outgained Thiel 575-4 and gave up just one first down. Colin Payne and Trey Holsman came off the bench for Washington & Jefferson, combining to complete all 11 of their passes for 164 yards and three touchdowns. John Peduzzi caught five passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns and Jacob Macosko added five receptions for 109 yards and one TD.
Westminster 57, Saint Vincent 14 – Quentin Goode threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns to lead Westminster (7-3, 6-2) to the PAC win over Saint Vincent (2-8, 1-7). Brite Cannon caught six passes for 113 yards and three touchdowns for Westminster, which scored 34 points in the second quarter. Julian Walker ran for 65 yards and a touchdown for Saint Vincent.
Division I FCS
Long Island University 10, Saint Francis 3 – Marshall Washington Jr.’s fourth-quarter pick-six lifted Long Island University past Saint Francis. Washington intercepted Nick Whitfield’s pass on a dead run and sprinted down the left sideline 35 yards with just over 11 minutes remaining.
Long Island (5-6, 3-3 Northeast Conference) led 3-0 at halftime on Will Johnson’s 43-yard field goal. The Red Flash (0-10, 0-6) tied the game with 10 minutes left in the third quarter on Mac Plummer’s 40-yard kick.
Greenwood threw for 105 yards and led all rushers, carrying the ball 16 times for 79 of the Sharks’ 249 yards total offense. O’Shawn Ross Jr. added 50 yards on 17 carries.The Red Flash managed only 157 yards offense with Ralph Ekechi rushing for 51 yards.
