District college football roundup: Robert Morris wins third straight

Garrett Houser pulled in a 75-yard pass from George Martin for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as Robert Morris came from behind to defeat Bryant, 24-20, on Saturday to remain undefeated in the Northeast Conference.

The Colonials (4-4, 3-0) fell behind 13-0 by halftime.

Back-to-back Bryant turnovers turned into 10 points. Brady Ours intercepted Bryant’s Kory Curtis, leading to a Nick Bisceglia 29-yard field goal as the Colonials cut the gap to 13-10. The Bulldogs’ Gavin Rowley fumbled on the next possession. Jacob Thomas snatched it up at the 3 and scored for a 17-13 Colonials lead.

Duquesne 28, Wagner 24 — Mark Allen returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown 24 seconds into the fourth quarter, and Duquesne held on. The Dukes trailed 14-0 midway through the second quarter.

A.J. Hines finished with 113 yards on 26 carries for Duquesne (5-2, 3-0 NEC).

Sacred Heart 36, St. Francis (Pa.) 33 (OT) — Logan Marchi threw two touchdown passes, including the winner in overtime, as Sacred Heart dropped St. Francis (Pa.) to 4-4, 2-2.

Division II

No. 9 Slippery Rock 41, Clarion 6 — Roland Rivers III threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock (8-0, 5-0). Jermaine Wynn Jr. finished with 153 yards receiving and one touchdown.

No. 19 IUP 35, Gannon 0 — In PSAC play, Quinton Maxwell threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns as IUP (7-1, 4-1) shut out Gannon (2-6, 1-4). IUP’s Damon Lloyd returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.

Cal (Pa.) 27, Mercyhurst 15 — Nelson Brown rushed for a team-high 119 yards and had 74 yards receiving to lead Cal (Pa.) (6-2, 4-1) to a PSAC victory over Mercyhurst (3-5, 1-4). Brown had a rushing and receiving touchdown.

Edinboro 37, Seton Hill 10 — Edinboro’s Gilberto Ruiz II recorded two sacks, a forced fumble and recovered a fumble, and Seton Hill (2-5, 2-3) turned the ball over five times in its PSAC loss to the Fighting Scots. Aaron Rogers returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown for Edinboro (2-6, 2-3).

Division III

Carnegie Mellon 40, Thiel 7 — J.D. Dayhuff threw for 225 yards and two touchdowns as Carnegie Mellon (6-2, 5-2) defeated Thiel (0-8, 0-7) in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.

Saint Vincent 21, Waynesburg 17 — Mike Stasko scored on an 8-yard run with 48 seconds left in the game to give the Bearcats (2-5, 2-4) the PAC win at Waynesburg (1-7, 1-6). Stasko rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Westminster 28, W&J 21 — Keano Grice ran for 189 yards and three touchdowns to lead Westminster (6-2, 5-2) to the PAC victory at W&J (5-3, 4-3). Aaron Pierce scored on a 100-yard interception return in the second quarter.

DePauw 8, Allegheny 6 — Tonye Hamilton scored on a 2-yard run early in the fourth quarter, but Allegheny was unable to convert on the 2-point attempt. The Gators slipped to 1-6, 1-5.

Case Western Reserve 30, Geneva 23 — Isaac Gibbs rushed for a game-high 143 yards and a touchdown, but it wasn’t enough as Geneva (3-5, 3-4) lost to Case Western Reserve (7-0, 6-0) in the PAC.
