Chris D’Or rushed for 89 yards and two scores, including an 8-yard TD run late in the second quarter that gave Slippery Rock the lead for good in a 45-35 victory over Tiffin in the NCAA Division II playoffs Saturday.
The Rock (12-1) advances to the regional final next weekend, which will be a rematch of the PSAC Championship game won 31-7 by Kutztown on Nov. 11.
Kylon Wilson had a 90-yard kickoff return and Brayden Long threw for 191 yards and a touchdown for Slippery Rock. Khalid Dorsey ran for 70 yards and a touchdown and Kyle Sheets rushed for 82 yards and another score.
Ray Keegan threw for 333 yards and two touchdowns for Tiffin (11-1), which was the top seed in the region.
Division III
Cortland 25, Grove City 24 – After pulling within a point on a 1-yard touchdown run by Jaden Alfano-St. John with 1:23 remaining, Cortland went for two, converted on a Zac Boyes pass to Omari Kendrick, and beat Grove City in the NCAA Division III playoffs.
Grove City had a chance to win, but Caleb Kuechly missed a 37-yard field goal with nine seconds left.
Logan Pfeuffer threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 7-yard scoring pass to Scott Fraser with 8:27 to go, for Grove City (11-1). Nico Flati ran for 116 yards, Ryan Heckathorn had eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown, and Fraser caught seven balls for 75 yards.
Boyes threw for 263 yards and a touchdown and JJ Laap caught eight passes for 111 yards and a score for Cortland (11-1), which will meet Alma in the regional final next weekend.
