The Pittsburgh Riverhounds suffered their first loss of the season, playing down a man most of the second half and losing 1-0 to the Colorado Springs Switchbacks on a late goal Saturday night.

The Riverhounds (1-1-3) went down a man when Robbie Mertz received a red card for a challenge on Colorado Springs’ Jairo Henriquez about three minutes into the second half.

In the 75th minute, Riverhounds goalkeeper Jahmali Waite stopped an off-speed penalty kick attempt by Maalique Foster of Colorado Springs (3-1-1).

Five minutes later, however, Romario Williams took a low cross from Patrick Seagrist from the left wing and buried it for the only goal of the match.

The Riverhounds will return home to face Rio Grande Valley FC at 7 p.m. next Saturday.
