Miami (Ohio) guard Dae Dae Grant drives past the defense of Louisville guard Ryan McMahon (30) during the first half of an NCAA college basketball game in Louisville, Ky.

Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot added the ninth member and fourth transfer to his 2022 recruiting class Tuesday when former Miami (Ohio) guard Dae Dae Grant enrolled.

Grant (6-foot-2) brings a wealth of experience and impressive production from the Mid-American Conference, where he started every game for Miami over the past three seasons, a total of 87. He also brings with him two years of eligibility.

Grant, a native of Lorain, Ohio, scored 1,171 points (13.5 per game), with 165 3-pointers and 247 assists with the Red Hawks. He scored in double digits 61 times (17 as a freshman, 15 as a sophomore in 2020 and 29 as a junior).

Last season, he scored nearly half that point total (561, a team-high 17.5 per game), including 11 20-point games while shooting 34.3% (70 of 204) from beyond the 3-point arc and 85.3% (87 of 102) from the free-throw line. He handed out 132 assists (4.1) while averaging 33.1 minutes, and his 2.24/1 assist to turnover ratio led the MAC.

“Dae Dae played in a lot of games and put up some very good numbers in a very good league,” Dambrot said in a statement released by Duquesne. “We recruited him out of high school, and we are very fortunate to have him join us this season. Guys from Northeast Ohio are usually pretty tough kids, and we anticipate he’ll bring some of that toughness, to go along with his obvious skills, to our program.”

Grant is the third transfer guard with Division I experience to join the Dukes this year, along with Tevin Brewer (Florida International) and Tre Clark (VCU).

“Having three guards with proven Division I experience in this recruiting class should really help us prepare for, and be extremely competitive in, the Atlantic 10,” Dambrot said.

Grant is the second former Miami player to enroll at Duquesne under Dambrot, joining Marcus Weathers, who scored 1,014 points for the Dukes in three seasons.
