Duquesne quarterback Darius Perrantes, a finalist last season for the annual Walter Payton Award as FCS Offensive Player of the Year, is among 35 candidates vying for the 2024 honor.

Duquesne’s football team wrapped up its season Saturday after a 21-14 loss to Central Connecticut State, failing to earn an automatic bid to the postseason.

On Sunday, the Dukes were not selected to participate in the Division I FCS playoffs as an at-large team.

On Monday, Duquesne was ranked No. 25 in the final AFCA Coaches Poll of the regular season.

The Dukes finished 8-3 overall and shared the Northeast Conference title at 5-1.

Also on Monday, Duquesne wide receiver Joey Isabella was named an NEC Prime Performer after he had five receptions for 149 yards and caught both touchdowns in Saturday’s loss. He ranked second in the NEC in touchdown receptions with 11, which was tied for sixth in FCS.
