Duquesne is playing short-handed Saturday afternoon against Fordham after starting guards Sincere Carry and Maceo Austin left the team.

It is not clear if the players’ absences are permanent. A Duquesne spokesman said Carry “has decided to take time away from the program.” Austin has “stepped away for personal reasons,” the spokesman said.

The Dukes also lost guard Lamar Norman Jr. this week when the junior guard announced he plans to transfer.

Carry, a second-team All-Atlantic 10 selection last season and three-year starter, was second in scoring (12.2 points per game) and led the team in assists (158) during the 2019-2020 season. He was averaging nine points and four assists per game this season.

Austin, a sophomore from Kennedy Catholic, started 29 games in 2019-2020. He was averaging 4.8 points per game while making four starts this season.
