The Duquesne men’s basketball roster expanded Monday as 6-foot-8 forward Joe Reece will join the program for the 2022-23 season.

Reece is the 10th member of the current recruiting class. He has enrolled and has joined his new teammates in summer workouts.

“I expect Joe to be a real asset in the frontcourt,” Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot said. “He’s a talented, athletic forward with a very solid all-around game who can score, rebound and defend.”

Reece averaged 11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds and 19 minutes last season at Bowling Green. He reached double figures in scoring 15 times with a season-high 20 against Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Michigan.

He also had a team-best 19 points with six rebounds in a 100-74 win over Robert Morris on Dec. 19.

The Falcons went 13-18 overall and were 6-14 in the Mid-American Conference.

Reece is familiar with Duquesne, having played against the Dukes on Dec. 1 last season.

He scored 15 points with 12 rebounds in a 78-70 Bowling Green victory at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse.

It was one of three double-doubles he posted last season.

Reece comes to Duquesne with 83 games of experience.

Before his lone year at Bowling Green, Reece played three seasons at Old Dominion and helped the Monarchs to a 54-36 record from 2018-21. He scored in double-digits 18 times as a sophomore and a junior.

The St. Louis native, who will be designated a senior, has 631 career points and 358 rebounds.

“We got an up-close look at what Joe can do last year when Bowling Green was here,” Dambrot said. “He has played a lot of meaningful minutes for good programs at the Division-I level. I am looking for that experience to benefit us as we move forward.”

Reece is the fourth newcomer for the upcoming season who owns Division I experience, joining guards Tevin Brewer (Florida International), Tre Clark (Virginia Commonwealth) and Dae Dae Grant (Miami, Ohio).
