Duquesne men's basketball to visit Davidson for Atlantic 10 opener
Duquesne’s men’s basketball team will begin its Atlantic 10 season on the road at Davidson. The Dec. 30 matchup was part of the Atlantic 10 schedule that was announced by the conference Thursday.
The Dukes’ home games at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse include matchups against VCU (Jan. 3), Dayton (Jan. 13), Saint Louis (Jan. 20), St. Bonaventure (Jan. 28), Rhode Island (Feb. 1), George Washington (Feb. 7), La Salle (Feb. 18), Davidson (Feb. 25) and Richmond (March 7).
Duquesne’s road games are at Saint Joseph’s (Jan. 7), Fordham (Jan. 17), Loyola Chicago (Jan. 24), George Mason (Feb. 4), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 14), Dayton (Feb. 21), Saint Louis (Feb. 28) and Rhode Island (March 4).
The Atlantic 10 championship will be held March 11-15 at PPG Paints Arena. It will be a celebration of the conference’s 50th season. Five of the first six A-10 championships were held in Pittsburgh, including from 1978-82 at the Civic Arena. It also was played at PPG Paints Arena in 2017.
Duquesne, under second-year coach Dru Joyce III, opens the nonconference part of the schedule Nov. 3, against Niagara at UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. The Dukes have nine home games in the nonconference portion of the schedule.
