Idle since Dec. 2, Duquesne plans to resume its nonconference schedule next week in Indianapolis with games against two Missouri Valley Conference opponents.

The Dukes (1-1) will play Southern Illinois (2-0) at 4 p.m. Monday and Loyola-Chicago (2-0) at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Indiana Convention Center.

Southern Illinois is rated 191st in the nation by KenPom.com. The Salukis defeated Southeast Missouri State, 87-79 in overtime, and Division II Quincy (Ill.) University, 102-61. They were 16-16 last season.

Loyola-Chicago, rated No. 54 by KenPom, defeated Division II Lewis (Ill.) University, 76-48, and Chicago State, 88-51, after a 21-11 finish to 2019-20.

Duquesne’s most recent scheduled game against Winthrop was canceled Friday in Louisville because of positive covid-19 tests among two staff members. The Dukes returned to practice this week, with workouts Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on campus.

Adhering to covid protocols, coach Keith Dambrot ran practice by himself Wednesday. Four players were missing, one because of injury.
